Gyb'Easy Boom Brake
Gybing remains one of the most challenging operations on a yacht even for experienced sailors and can be dangerous, possibly generate injuries and material damage.
An efficient and safe solution: Gyb'Easy the Wichard boom brake.
Thanks to the frictions of the specific line passing over the boom break, the boom is allowed to gybe smoothly. With Gyb’Easy, gybe operations are safer, potential accidents reduced and without jerks.
Settings of Gyb'Easy
The adjusment of Gyb’Easy is made thanks to the tension of the specialized line. 3 different positions exist for a perfect adaptation to the mainsail and wind conditions. The more the line passes over the openings, the more the friction is increased and hence the brake efficiency.
Easy installation on all kinds of boats
The installation only takes a few minutes: a shackle is attached onto one of the boom eye straps. In order to fit with all the deck configurations, two different fittings can be implemented. The boom brake can be installed on most boats from modern boats to old gaffers.

Gyb’Easy, the Wichard boom brake uses a specific line called Gyb’Flex passing over the boom brake itself.
Thanks to its main technical features and the frictions on the brake, the boom is allowed to gybe smoothly. The Gyb’Flex rope absorbs the shock loading.
The gybing operation is controlled only by tensioning the Gyb’Flex without any action on the main sheet.
The Wichard Gyb’Flex is quickly and easily fine-tuned to suit your boat's characteristics.
