Parasail

Parasail

Whether sailing on lakes or cruising in coastal waters - the Parasail is the ideal downwind companion for you and your yacht. You will find the Parasail well tempered and easy to handle on your cruises. Where ordinary spinnakers begin to collapse you still enjoy relaxed cruising with or without the autopilot switched on. The Parasail is the sister sail to the Parasailor. Hoisting and lowering is also very easy when using the Easy Snuffer™.

Operating Principle:

The Parasail is made of an upper and a lower part divided by a vent stretching over almost the entire width of the sail.
A Single-Skin-Wing™ is tied to the upper and the lower part such that it is located right behind the vent. Air flowing through the vent causes aerodynamic lift due to the curved form of the Single-Skin-Wing just like the aerofoil of an aeroplane. The diagram depicts the horizontal force [1 ] and the vertical force [2] pulling the sail ahead and upwards, respectively, resulting in the lift of the wing [represented by the red arrow). This finally takes pressure off the mast [3].

Advantages:

  • Can be set without use of a spinnaker pole
  • Aerodynamic lift caused by Single Skin Wing™
  • Gust venting (slots in the sail act like a shock absorber in gusts)
  • Bow lift
  • Smooth opening
  • Easy hoisting and lowering
  • Suppressed yawing and rolling
  • Great stability
  • Easy handling even for short handed crew
